Trude Real Estate works with landlords in the BVI who wish to rent their homes out on a long term basis, in most cases 6 months to a year. If you wish to rent a property for a few weeks, there are numerous vacation rental agencies that provide that service. Go to www.bviwelcome.com and click under "accommodation" to view short term rental agencies.
Most landlords will require a residential lease, a security deposit of at least one month's rent and the first month's rent prior to occupation of the Property. Some landlords will also require a last month's rent as well. It will take awhile to establish a Bank account in the BVI, so be prepared to bring adequate monies with you to meet these obligations or make arrangements with your employer to provide you with adequate funds. Monies can be wire transferred down. Cash or BVI company cheques are also acceptable.
We have many quality rental properties listed on our website giving the time they will become available for rent. Normally people will check the website about a month prior to their entry into the BVI to see what possible properties might suit them. You can contact our offices further in advance of this giving us your requirements so we can see if an acceptable property would be becoming available at that time. However we would recommend that you make arrangements for some temporary accommodations on the island so you can view various homes when you arrive.
Most homes we manage come fully furnished including dishes, bedding, towels, etc so you can move in with just your suitcases. Some properties come with appliances only so if you wish to bring your furniture and other items with you, you can do so. In some cases the Landlords can remove some of the items in a house to allow you to bring some things with you but normally will not remove everything.
Most Landlords in our experience are reluctant to take pets, particularly dogs. Some will allow this but require separate Pet Agreements and extra security deposits.
